It began as nothing more a single “black mass”

恐怖
Fear

後悔
Regret

孤独
Loneliness

憎悪
Hatred

人々の心の底に沈んだ影を吸い上げるたびに
Every time it absorbs the shadows that lay hidden in the depths of people’s hearts

その姿は変質し混ざり合い輪郭を得てゆく
Its shape transforms, blends together, and gains new definition

「それ」らに意志は無く
“They” have no will

目的も無い
They have no purpose

注がれた絶望の形を悉く「写し取る」だけだる
They merely “copy” all the forms of Despair poured into them

故に
Therefore

その外見は決して一定せず
Their appearance is ever shifting

取り込んだ淀みの深度によって
And depends on the depths of those buried emotions they absorb

禍々しく姿を変えてゆくとされる
They are said to change their appearance in particularly ominous ways

そして一度
And once

その姿を「理解」してしまったなら
You “understand” what they look like

「それ」はもう心から離れない
“They” will never truly leave you

どれほど目を背けようと
No matter how much you look away

「理解」して影は既にその者の内側に「いる」
The shadow that you “understand” is already “inside” you

だからこそ語り継がれてきた禁忌がある
That’s why there are certain taboos that have been passed down
